The Ford F-150 gets plenty of updates for 2027 — including a new base V6 engine, Carhartt trim model, and updated BlueCruise system. The newly standard 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 delivers the same output as the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 (325 horsepower, 400 lb-ft of torque), but it’s designed to improve around-town torque delivery and overall towing performance. And this year’s BlueCruise driving system introduces towing capabilities for the first time, giving you the power to cruise hands-free down pre-mapped divided highways with your camper along for the ride.
The new F-150 Carhartt trim model puts a stylish spin on an honest day’s work. It builds on the mid-level XLT truck with a uniquely rugged aesthetic (think two-tone seating with tan accent stitching). Other upgrades include stylish-yet-durable interior trim, bed protection, and 20-inch wheels.
Speaking of style, the XLT, Lariat, Platinum, and King Ranch get new grille and wheel designs for 2027! Plus, this year’s upscale Platinum and King Ranch trims are once again available with the 5.0-liter V8 engine.
Finally, the 2027 F-150 introduces new versions of its off-road-ready Tremor and Raptor trim models designed to deliver rugged capabilities at slashed prices. Both trucks lose some of the upscale features typically assigned to these trims without forgoing any trail-friendly features. For those who prefer the luxury versions of these trucks, there’s no need to worry — those are still available!
Each F-150 engine option has its own limitations — for example, the most powerful option, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, tows max loads of 13,500 pounds. However, your F-150’s towing capabilities will vary according to a lot more than what’s under the hood. Options like body style and equipment also factor into the mix. That said, you can check out each F-150 engine’s max capabilities below, depending on whether the engine is paired with rear- or four-wheel drive.
