What do you want in a large sport utility vehicle? Power is a plus. Room for you, your passengers, and everyone's stuff is a must. And a great look that hints at the powerhouse under the hood would be good. What if we told you that we have a winning combination for you? The 2019 Ford Expedition. This large sport utility vehicle just might satisfy everything on your must-have list with a bunch of wants thrown in. In this preview guide, we'll tell you what's new for 2019 and also why the Expedition has been a great choice for years now.
What's New for 2019?
Ford just kicked off the Expedition fourth generation with a top-to-bottom update in 2018. So this model year doesn't change much from the previous one, except in one notable regard.

The new stealth edition might look perfect for covert ops in your next spy thriller, but this special edition package can be yours in reality. The Stealth Package includes 22-inch black-painted wheels, continuously controlled damping suspension, red interior stitching, and gloss black accents on the grille, mirror caps, roof rails, tailgate, badges and more. Turn some heads next time you pick up the kids from school or head on any number of ordinary errands.
Attractive, Bold Styling
Speaking of the Expedition's look, any trim or paint job on the Expedition will leave a lasting impression. That's because the Expedition embraces the bold, yet modern, look of a large sport utility vehicle in the 21st century. Ford knew to build the Expedition rugged, and it shows. But for all its ruggedness, the Expedition doesn't have the square face of a pickup. Instead, this SUV resembles the smaller Explorer with a handsome mug and smooth surfaces. Special features on upper-trim models include exclusive exterior lighting and additional chrome trim.
Power Where It Counts

There's just one engine option for the Ford Expedition. But we are not complaining. Because that engine is a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that delivers 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. That engine powered with premium fuel in the Platinum trim improves its numbers to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. With that engine, you get a 10-speed automatic transmission. Despite not offering a V8 engine, the Expedition is quicker than most of its rivals, going zero to 60 in just 5.8 seconds. And this SUV can tow up to a whopping 9,300 pounds.
Cargo Space for Lots of Stuff

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention how much room there is for your gear. With all three rows up, there's 20.9 cubic feet. But fold a row of seats down and that expands to 63.6 cubic feet. Fold another row down and you have 104.6 cubic feet. That's more than most other full-size SUVs. But if you need even more, consider the Expedition Max, which has as much as 121.5 cubic feet of cargo space, which tied for first in its class. Convinced yet?
