What's New for 2019?
Coming after a very recent facelift, the 2019 Ford Escape isn't too terribly different than the 2018 year model. But there is a bit of good news, as tech options expand in time for the new year. First of all, Ford's intuitive and speedy infotainment system, the SYNC 3, is now standard on SE trims. (In 2018 and earlier, SYNC 3 was merely optional on the Escape SE.) Keyless ignition and push-button entry are also sifting down the trim levels and are now standard on both SE and SEL trims. Besides that, the Escape is the same crossover that drivers love.
Chiseled
Even before its 2017 facelift, the Ford Escape had a great look. But that look has been chiseled and sculpted, breathing new life into its lines. The Escape looks less like a sedan than it once did, and more like its bigger brother, the Ford Edge. And while the Escape still isn't exactly rugged in look, its design is clean, distinctive, and angled just so for a pleasing overall appearance. Since last year, SE models boast standard roof rails, power liftgate, and heated exterior mirrors. SEL trim gives you LED running lights and Titanium models come standard with futuristic HID headlights. This year the Escape comes in colors like Agate Black, Oxford White, Magnetic, Ingot Silver, Lightning Blue, Baltic Sea Green, Sedona Orange, Ruby Red, and White Platinum.
Engine Options
If you're into powerful acceleration, we suggest you skip the base engine-a 168-horsepower four-cylinder-and step right on up to the Escape SE to get the 179-horsepower turbo-four engine. If you want all-wheel drive, you can add it for just $995. For those who simply won't be denied the best acceleration money can buy, proceed to the top Titanium trim and grab the optional 245-horsepower turbo-four engine.
But how does the 2019 Ford Escape drive, you ask? Well, more like a sporty sedan than a crossover. There's a lot of power in your corner with the Escape, along with superb acceleration and timely braking. With the turbo 2-liter engine, you can go zero to 60 in just 7 seconds flat. The steering isn't sporty, but what crossover has direct feel of the road? Don't be too afraid of the road less traveled, because with a 7.8-inch clearance, the Escape can get into the weeds a little with no cause for concern.
