What’s the difference between the 2019 Ford F-150 Limited and Platinum trim models? These trucks are both focused on high-end luxury and a sturdy performance. But to really tell the difference between them, you need to look closer.
What’s Under the Hood?
In the 2019 Ford F-150 Platinum, you’ll enjoy classic V8 performance. Ford’s 5-liter V8 engine kicks up dust with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with the new 10-speed automatic transmission to give fuel economy a boost. When you’re towing and hauling heavy loads, switching to tow-haul mode will lock out the higher gears and improve performance.
As the F-150’s top-of-the-line trim model, the Limited comes with all the top-of-the-line gear. And that means that the Limited gets a high-output version of this truck’s most powerful engine, the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. In other F-150s, this engine makes 375 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. But in the Limited, the engine generates 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque for the ultimate performance, on-road or off.
Which is More Luxurious?
That would be the 2019 Ford F-150 Limited. Although both the Limited and Platinum are unmistakably luxurious, the Limited has the added appeal of upgraded front-seat leather upholstery. Outside, the Limited was designed to catch eyes with its 22-inch wheels and unique styling details.
The Platinum also has its own personal style. This trim also wraps you in leather upholstery and unique styling details, like wood and aluminum interior trim. And its 20-inch wheels are almost as flashy as the Limited versions. The Platinum is certainly classy—it’s just not quite as classy as the Limited.
What features are available?
Both the 2019 Ford F-150 Limited and Platinum are at the high end of the F-150 trim model spectrum, which means both come fully loaded with just about every modern comfort imaginable. Besides leather upholstery, they have quite a few features in common. Both trucks supply modern conveniences, like keyless entry and ignition. And heated and ventilated seats turn up comfort levels in the face of extreme climates.
And both trucks also come standard with some high-tech driver aids. These items, including forward collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking, are designed to help you stay safe. The reverse sensing system, standard on both the Limited and Platinum, helps you navigate parking spaces in this big truck.
But the top-trim Limited also comes standard with a lot of features that are optional for other trims. One such item is the 360-degree camera system, which improves your parking lot maneuvers with a bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. The heated, power-adjustable steering wheel is another nice touch, giving the Limited cabin a little extra luxury.
How much do these trucks cost?
As you might’ve guessed, the Limited costs a little bit more than the Platinum. The upscale 2019 Ford F-150 Platinum starts at $54,902. The fully-loaded, all-out-powerful 2019 Ford F-150 Limited starts at $67,135.
